The short version
truckspot.app exists to help you find food trucks live, and to help truck owners find their customers. We collect the minimum needed for that. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. You can delete your account any time.
What we collect
- Your email — to sign you in via one-time codes. We don't store passwords. Your email is never shown publicly on the site.
- Your display name (if you set one) — shown as the spotter attribution on sightings you post (e.g. "Spotted by Sarah M.").
- Location of sightings you post — the lat/lng of the spot you're pinning, and any address you typed along with it. This is public; that's the point of the app.
- Your push-notification subscription (if you enable it) — the endpoint + keys your browser generates so we can send you a push when a truck you saved gets spotted. Removed the moment you disable or unsubscribe.
- Basic analytics — via Fathom Analytics. Fathom is privacy-first: no cookies, no personal identifiers, no cross-site tracking. We use it to see things like "how many people visited the map today." Public dashboard at /analytics.
What we don't collect
- Your home address (unless you set it in profile — it's never shown publicly).
- Your real-time location (we only record it when you tap "I see it too" or post a check-in).
- Cookies for advertising or tracking (we don't have any).
- Your device fingerprint or any data that could identify you across other sites.
Who sees what
Sightings, truck names, cuisines, and approximate locations are public — anyone can see them without signing in. That's the whole product.
Your email, appearance preference, home location, saved-trucks list, and push subscriptions are private — only you and the site admin can see them.
Deleting your account
Use our contact form (or email hello@truckspot.app) and we'll delete your user record, your saved-trucks list, and your push subscriptions within a few days. Sightings you posted remain (they're attributable to community members, not to you specifically; your display name can be wiped at the same time if you want).
